Android Prompting for PIN Connecting to SBS Exchange with ActiveSync

Disable The 4 Digit PIN code Request When a Mobile Device Connects to Exchange 2010 on SBS 2011

Mobile Smartphone Prompting for PIN Connecting to SBS Exchange with ActiveSync

As we know, ActiveSync is the best method for connecting Androids, iPhones and other mobile devices to Exchange servers.  When the Exchange server is part of an SBS 2011 solution, after configuring the mobile device to receive its company e-mail through ActiveSync, it is requesting a 4 digit PIN code. This is an SBS 2011 default setting. The default configuration on the SBS 2011 Exchange Server requires a password for ActiveSync devices to synchronize with the Exchange server.

On SBS 2011 or in a non-SBS installation of Exchange 2010 the feature can be disabled or changed by opening Exchange Management Console, going to Organization Configuration, Client Access and select the Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policies. Click properties on the Default policy and select the Passwords tab to find see the setting.

To completely disable the password requirement, remove the check at Require password. Of course you can also change the settings to your own preferences.

Exchange 2010 ECP login The user name or password you entered isn’t correct.

Exchange 2010 ECP login The user name or password you entered isn't correct.

Exchange 2010 ECP login The user name or password you entered isn’t correct.

A method used to resolve this problem was to change the authentication methods used by the ECP (exchange control panlel) virtual directory. The settings below worked. After they were applied, the user who had the correct permissions was able to login and manage their account and other user accounts. ECP-outlook-web-app-exchange-2010-user-name-password-entered-isn't-correct-authentication-setting

Once the aauthentication settings for ecp were updated, the user was able to login through OWA by licking the options and see all options or directly using the ecp url.

Xerox 500 LDAP configuration for Searching AD

Xerox 550 seraches of AD works very well but configuring the LDAP connection can get confusing if you hit too many options at once without understanding what they do.

We had a perfectly running AD, albeit it’s a 2003 AD, but the principal is the same. Below are screen shots of a working AD LDAP lookup integration for the Xerox 550 using CenterView browser based admin interface. Some of the fields have been changed to denote where you must enter your own information.

the above settings worked. When you perform a test search, the example results could be misleading. You may be entering the first several letters of a users name but a computer name for example  is displayed that may start with the same several letters. This is actually okay. The important thing is that the search worked. On the Copier/Scanner/Printer itself, you will see the results you expect to see.

Exchange 2010 Shell Command to Remove Quota Limits for Mailbox

Remove Quota Limits for Mailbox – Exchange

The entering of the command and the resulting output (just a blank line) is done through the Exchange 2010 Shell

In this example, the jounaling mailbox will have any email limitations or quotas removed. This same command can be applied to other user mailboxes as well of course. You can also use the same command to place a limit, just replace unlimited with a number.

Set-Mailbox "journaling" -UseDatabaseQuotaDefaults $false -IssueWarningQuota unlimited -ProhibitSendQuota unlimited -ProhibitSendReceiveQuota unlimited

You can copy and paste the command line code and change the name to one of your user accounts or mailboxes and apply it in the shell.
