Exchange 2010 Command Line to Export Mailbox to PST

Login to the exchange server with an account that has appropriate rights to perform the export operation. This account may have to have Export rights granted.

The domain administrator account, if you have access to it, will already be enabled and granted the rights to export a mailbox to a PST file.

Once logged on, start an Exchange Management Shell session.

Enter the following command :

New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox {user alias without the squiggly brackets}  -FilePath \\A file server on your network\a shared folder\name-of-the-pst-file.pst

The following screenshot is from a real export on a real server (this was not on a lab server)

The following comamnd can be run to check the status of the export and any other exports that are in progress.

HP’s ILO technology is built-into their servers. It was developed for remote access to servers even when they are not booting to the server operating system such as Windows or VMware for example to name a few. HP’s ILO is web based if the proper firewall access is enabled by the admin in advance. I anticipate seeing such access to servers to be available to an online service which would mean the server would connect out to a site and register and make themselves available for connectivity. This would further enhance the web based remote support software feature of the technology because in the cased where security concerns and policies have keep the firewalls restrictions tight.  Web based remote access to the servers when regardless if there is an operating system installed and running such as windows server or Linux Enterprise, Cent OS, or VMware just to name a couple examples, enables a server administrator to update firmware , or even install operating systems on bare systems. Web based remote access to server and other systems will also enable the shipping of systems to distant location and still be accessible to deploy software and restore systems from backup.

The server’s console is remote controlled as if the tech support person was right in front of it. It is accessible in a manor which allows operations to be performed in order to return the server into production or to make upgrades, updates, or changes that will make the system perform better once returned to production use. Software for online remote computer control of a server that does not even have an operating system on it makes support much easier and faster.

HP is not the only server manufacturer that has low level built in remote access of their server hardware. Dell also has developed and built a similar competing technology to HP ILO. Dell technology is called DRAC, which stands for Dell Remote Access Card (DRAC) . It has essentially the same features as HP’s ILO. It permit admins to have remote access and remote control of server hardware even if there is not operating system installed on it. In fact, DRAC and ILO remote access and remote control does not require a hard drive to be installed in the system . This permits even the configuration of hard drives a out of the box. All the way from physical installation and the creation of RAID volumes.  Ground up installation from out of box to production using software for remote access and remote support through the web.

The error message seen above in the image can occure when demoting an Active Directory domain controller.

Received this error while demoting an SBS 2003 Active Directory domain controller as a final part of a migration to SBS 2011.  After overcoming obstacles to get exchange removed, this error came up during the dcpromo process in which the domain control that was formally y the SBS 2003 server would be turned into a member server.

The solution to this problem was simple and hopefully it is for you too if you have come across this post looking for an answer should you be confronting this right now.

Change the DNS configuration on the server you are trying to demote and be sure it’s first DNS server configured in the TCP configuration is assigned to the SBS 2011 server or just another Active Directory DNS server if you are just demoting a non-sbs domain controller.

Display the Citrix Toolbar in Full Screen published desktops

Display the Toolbar during full screen published desktops. This setting is disabled and commented out by default. To enable the toolbar in the published desktop to be displayed, edit the webinterface conf file and remove the # (pound sign) in front of the line ShowDesktopViewer=off. Then change the off to “On” as shown in post the image.

The next time the user login, they will have the toolbar at the top of their published desktop screen.
